With so many households unable to earn an income or put food on the table during the Covid-19 lockdown, Kouga Wind Farm has teamed up with Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm and Tsitsikamma Wind Farm to help as many families in the region as possible.
Part of what is known as the Coastal-6, we have pooled our resources to purchase food parcels and hygiene packs for households, homeless shelters and partner NGOs. The distribution of these parcels is coordinated by the Kouga Municipality. We also co-funded a 20-foot refrigerated container, which the municipality is using to store fresh food items.
This effort is helping to keep our communities healthy by ensuring that everyone has daily meals and soap to wash their hands to limit the spread of the virus.
In addition, we are sponsoring personal protective equipment for medical teams carrying out community screening and testing on behalf of the Department of Health. Going forward, we will be exploring other impactful ways of supporting Covid-19 initiatives.
